Profile
Dr. Feng is employed as Professor/PhD supervisor at Center for Infection & Immunity, Department of Medical Microbiology & Parasitology, Zhejiang University School of Medicine. Before his joining Zhejiang University, Dr. Feng acted as a Research Scientist at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (UIUC). Dr. Feng’s research is focused on 1) metabolism and regulation of two important fatty acid-derived vitamins (biotin/lipoic acid) in foodborne bacterial pathogens (such as E. coli and Vibrio cholerae) and 2) probing molecular mechanism of the zoonotic pathogen Streptococcus suis infection. So far, Dr. Feng has already been authored in nearly 60 papers published in international peer-reviewed journals, and has obtained important academic achievements.Education Experience2004.9--2007.6, Ph.D., Molecular Immunology and Molecular Virology, Institute of Microbiology/Graduate School in Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Beijing, China 2001.9--2004.7, M.Sc., Microbiology, College of Life Science & Technology, Guangxi University, Nanning, China 1997.9--2001.7, B.Sc., Biotechnology, College of Life Science & Technology, Northwest University of Light Industry, Xianyang, ChinaResearch Experiences2014.3 -- Professor Center for Infection & Immunity, Department of Medical Microbiology & Parasitology, Zhejiang University School of Medicine2013.1-- 2014.3 (Research Scientist)In Department of Microbiology, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, my research is centering on metabolism and regulation of bacterial fatty acids and its derivatives biotin & lipoic acids2008.1-- 2013.1 (Post-doc research associate)In the School of Molecular and Cellular Biology, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, my research is centering on metabolism and regulation of bacterial fatty acids and its derivative biotin.2007.6-- 2008.1 (Post-doc associate)In the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, I focused on study of Streptococcus suis genetics and PRRS virus infectious clone.2004.9-- 2007.6 (Ph. D) In the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMCAS), my research exploration was concentrating on structural and molecular pathogenesis of highly infectious agents including Streptococcus suis and avian influenza virus (e.g., H5N1).2001.9-- 2004.7 (M. Sc.)During the period of MSc. study in Guangxi University, I was aiming to investigation of the molecular virology of hypovirus and molecular biology of filamentous fungi, including the rice blast fungus Magnaporthe oryzae and the chestnut blight fungus, Cryphonectria parasitica.Main publications1.
