Prof. Yan is clinical Professor and supervisor of doctoral students and postdoctors in the fields of Orthopedics and Oncology at Zhejiang University, and adjunct Professor of France INSERM and expert committee member for key projects of international science and technology cooperation of China.
He obtained his MD., MSci. at Shanghai Military Medical University and his PhD. at Orthopedic Dept. of Kyoto University in Japan. He continued his postdoctoral training at Medical School, University of Toronto, Canada. And then he worked at University of Toronto and Medical Center, Orthocell Inc as a chief scientist. Dr. Yan joined Medical College, Zhejiang University and worked in the Clinical Research Center and Orthopeadic Dept. at The second affiliated hospital as a full Professsor since 2007. His research interest is involved in a number of clinical studies aimed at development of new therapy on spine cord, CNS & neurological disorders, biomaterials and nanomedicine as well as targeted cancer therapy with nanotechnology in Oncology. His research projects also include early detection and intervention in populations for certain arthritis and joint disease with fresh stem cell and magnetic nanoparticles .
Recent years, Prof. Yan has been featured in many publications, including editor in chief for four books in English as well as 9 patents; And more than 50 papers published in peer-review journals. He was the winner of International “Medicine Prize” awarded by Internaional BioMed Central in London 2009 and International Inventions Congress "Gold Medal" in Geneva 2014 & 2018.
Currently, Prof. Yan is holding several projetcs supported by the key research plan of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and Zhejiang province. His research team focus on clinical application of the precision medicine and regenerative medicine, being running programs of novel biomaterial implants with nano-coating or medical robot, pharmaceutical clinical trial on spine injury and stroke, and developing targeted cellular therapy with nanotechnology for tumor therapy and and cartilage repair and regeneration.
