Zhejiang University Laboratory Animal Center (ZJULAC) is one of the key public service platforms in Zhejiang University (ZJU). It is situated at Zijingang campus. Its current four floors building have a total area of 7500 m2. ZJULAC contains both barrier and open facilities equipped for animal breeding and experiments. Animal species stored and cared for include rat, mouse, guinea pig, rabbit, minipig, canidea and monkey. ZJULAC provides a service platform for the experiment and analysis of comparative medicine, fundamental research of laboratory animals, detection of animal quality, as well as a service platform for the development of transgenic mice and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), which has become ZJULAC’s characteristics. To date, most kinds of animal experiments can be conducted in the facility.
ZJULAC is made up of an administration and logistic department, an animal experiment department, and affiliated laboratories such as animal model lab, animal quality testing lab, transgenic animal lab, quarantine facility, brain-machine interface lab, laboratory animal behavioral science lab, respiratory pharmacology lab. ZJULAC has 37 staff members; 3 senior titles, 1 sub-senior title and 6 intermediate titles, and 80% personnel are professionally trained and certificated for undertaking the work directly related to the handling of laboratory animals.
