2020 ZJU online summer international exchange workshop was held for orthopedic postgraduates

Summer International Exchange Work Program is designed to deepen postgraduates’ understanding of the basics and frontier dynamics of each field with extensive international spark lights. In this summer, due to the impact of the epidemic at home and abroad this year, a online summer international workshop lead by Professor YE Zhaoming, head of the Orthopedic department, Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang School of Medicine (SAHZU) online continued to provide a chance for medical students to communicate with professors and experts from world-class universities, scientific research institutions and hospitals, concentrated on clinical orthopedics and medical science research.

  

The Summer International Exchange Workshop for Orthopaedic Graduate Students of Zhejiang University has been held four consecutive period: July 27, July 28, August 12, and August 26, 2020 respectively. The conference platform promotes real time face-to-face communication with foreign professors without traveling, topics are in  bone tumors, bone joints, spine and other cutting-edge fields. Series lectures includes medical records taking, discussions, and surgical demonstrations, especially the Mako robot-assisted surgery.

 

Professor Stefano Boriani, Orthopaedic Institute in Milan Gale Aceh, gave lecture on clinical technology in orthopedic sciences with treatment principles and methods of complex spinal tumors, and discussing the medical records of lumbar spinal tumors and sacrochordoma.Dr.HueLuu, MD, University of Chicago School of Medicine, and Professor Seth A. Jerabek, MD, Special Surgery Hospital of New York, USA delivered lecture on the application of Mako robot-assisted total hip surgery, which  is fundamental for the rapid development of traditional joint replacement technology in the directions of precision medical care, artificial intelligence and rapid recovery.Communication with with Professor RAO Jianyu, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) introduced cutting-edge information on bone tumor cancer cells and nanotechnology, and to discuss how to treat primary malignant bone tumors in lower limbs, providing new methods and ideas for orthopedics in the future treatment of bone tumors. Axel Hempfing, Director, Spinal Center of Werner-Wicker Orthopaedic Hospital in Germany and Dr. Liang Zhou, focusing on the surgical treatment of ankylosing spondylitis, moreover, the selection method of pre-entry and back surgery for spinal bending especially in the field of spine revision.

 

The Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang School of Medicine (SAHZU) Orthopedic Center is one of the famous orthopedics centers in the country, it is the first batch for national clinical specialties, a key national training disciplines of orthopedics, a leading unit in key research and development projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Zhejiang Orthopedic Health Center. In addition, it is considered to be the largest and most complete subspecialty orthopedics in the province. It has established cooperation, technical exchanges, and talent training with many top medical centers around the world, including the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital (NHS), the New York Hospital for Special Surgery(HSS), the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Reagan Medical Center, and the United States Cleveland Clinic Foundation(CCF) and many other world-renowned medical centers.
