The scientific research director Prof. Peter Herrlich and administrative director Dr. Daniele Barthel of Leibniz Institute for Age Research,Fritz Lipmann Institute, Germany visited Zhejiang University School of Medicine on May 3, 2011. The Two institutes signed Articulation Agreement for Master's Thesis in biomedical science.
Fritz Lipmann Institute is a member of the Leibniz Association and its basic budget is supported jointly by Thuringia and by the Federal Government. Now it represents the first national research institution devoted to biomedical research on ‘age-related processes’.
FLI offers opportunities to the ZUSM students performing a M.Sc. and Ph.D. theses in Biomedical Science with research conducted at the FLI. FLI plans to accept 2-3 students from ZUSM each year and the students can conduct a master/PhD thesis on a topic related to ageing and ageing- related diseases as represented by the FLI, including thorough mentoring, lab space and running costs. They also can get the chance to apply for the PhD program (Leibniz Graduate School on Aging and Age-related Diseases - LGSA).
