Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital is a modern tertiary care teaching hospital established in 1994, through the generous financial contributions of Sir Run Run shaw, a well-known Hong Kong businessman and philanthropist along with matching funds from Zhejiang Provincial People¨s Government. Through its affiliation with Loma Linda University (USA), SRRSH strives to maintain international standards of quality medical care. Loma Linda University consultants assist local administrators to make SRRSH excel in management, medical education and staff training. The hospital locates in the central part of Hangzhou, occupying an area of 16.5 acres, with nearly 1,000 employees. It has a 600-bed capacity with a potential of 800 beds. Thirty-three clinical sections and one institute are set up for patient care and research. All clinical departments accept postgraduate students for training. The radiology, gastroenterology, oncological surgery and ophthalmology accept students for doctoral level training. The hospital is also the third medical Dept. of Zhejiang University Medical School, which focuses on dispatching medical knowledge for medical student and continuous medical education. General Medicine is the pilot clinical base in the nation. SRRSH has many talented young health professionals who are enthusiastically engaged in patient care, medical education and research.

The hospital also obtains medical information and technological support through its international affiliation with Loma Linda University.
Since its opening in 1994, SRRSH has developed rapidly and achieved a high level of quality medical care. It is highly respected in Zhejiang Province as well as nationwide. SRRSH specializes in laparascopic surgery for illnesses. This well-developed surgery not only decreases patients¨ pain but also shortens their hospitalization period. SRRSH stall also specialize in GI endoscopic procedures, and mini-incision Cardiac surgery.
